Larry Weiss
Web Site Design & Search Engine Optimization
These are the basic steps to having an effective web site.
The plan. Our goal will be to make an internet selling machine. The planning
stage is always a collaboration with the customer.
-
Together we will create the basic text.
I will optimize it.
-
We will determine what key words your customer will search with.
I will integrate them into the site.
-
You can supply the pictures, (digital camera images are fine) or I can do that.
Together we must have a pretty good idea of how many pages there will be. Also what goes on each page. During
the construction phase, adjustments are easily made.

SEO - Search Engine Optimization. Your site must pass
muster twice. First, the site must clearly help your customer buy whatever is looking for. Our sales pitch is important.
BUT
Before your customer looks at your page, a search engine reads it. That search engine assigns
a value to that page. If yours is among the top scores, you will be rewarded with visitors. If
yours is not among the top scores, your page will be buried under a mountain of competing web
sites.

Content - A picture is worth a thousand words. But search engines cannot read pictures.
So text has to be written and optimized for every page.

Search Engine Submission - Its very easy to submit to search engines.
Its much harder to get them to pay attention to your submission. It works best when your pages are submitted and
they also find them on their own. How do they do that? Linking.
Linking - Modern search engines measure the number of incoming links to
a site. That becomes a measure of the "popularity" of that site. Link popularity is an important part in
getting you pages well placed by search engines. I have a program which contacts other webmasters to set up
"reciprocal links" and then maintains and monitors those links.
Linking is done last, but is required before you will see significant results. Search engines update at irregular
intervals. On the first update they will find most of your pages. On the second update they will credit you with
most of your incoming links. On the third update you will likely see your hard work pay off.
