Buying a painting from an artist should be a fun personal experience. Not only do you get to own an original painting, but you should get to meet the artist. Maybe not in person, but you should have an opportunity to talk to them and learn the "backstory" of your acquisition. There is nothing quite like being able to say: "I met the artist and this is what they had to say".
